Nanda Devi
The trek to the Nanda Devi sanctuary, first penetrated by Shipton and Tilman, had been closed by the Indian Government for many years. When the trek finally opened I decided to go and went from Lata to Lata Kharak and eventually to the Dharansi Pass just above Dibrugheta. The trek to the inner sanctuary is still closed and the rolling meadows with bharal grazing below the sheer walls of Nanda Devi still remains a distant dream.
